Introduction

New to triathlon or cycling? Coming back after a period of rest or injury? Seasoned cyclist, newbie runner, or fierce open water swimmer? You’re always welcome!

At ATAC we cater for all levels of swimmers, runners, cyclists & triathletes. While we’re a triathlon and cycling club, you’re welcome to join whichever sports take yours fancy.

So what do we do?

Swimming

Swim sessions are a great way to check what we are all about, and get to know your club mates. These sessions are usually coached by a fellow club member, and contain guidance on technique, and how to train effectively in the water.

Lanes are divided by ability and all levels are welcome!

We also host open water swimming sessions too. These are a little more challenging than the pool sessions, so you should be able to swim 200 meters unaided before joining these.

The water is colder, currents stronger, and it’s a quite different from the safety of the pool. It’s also an absolute requirement that you use a high-visibility personal safety buoy when taking part in these sessions.

CYCLING

During the cycling season, we host a variety of bike sessions throughout the week. Even though our rides have a no drop policy, we recommend checking the details of the ride to be sure you’re picking one you’re comfortable, and able to keep up with.

For our cycling sessions, we always state what the ride length and average pace will be. If you fancy something else, watch out for social rides to be posted – or go ahead and post your own and ask someone to help lead it!

Riding in a group can be intense and scary, so be sure to read our tips on safe group riding before your first ride with us.

Running

Every week during the run season we hold run sessions at Sportpark De Schinkel.

These sessions have a group warm up, with several re-group points for stretching and flexibility exercises. They’re typically structured around a set of intervals with periods of intense effort separated by periods of rest. Runners can regroup during those rest intervals.

Our more experienced runners often circle back for the less fast runners too, so you’ll never be left behind!

So what’s the best way to try out ATAC?

Well, that depends on what you want to get out of it!

If you’re a budding triathlete, be sure to try out all of our sessions, we structure our club schedule so that you can have a complete week of training.

If you fancy just participating in one sport, you’re always welcome too! We have dedicated core groups of runners, swimmers, and cyclists.

You’ll be sure to find “your people.”
